Moving or creaking floorboards

Moving, sagging, bouncy or creaking floorboards can quickly become irritating, especially in high traffic areas.

One cause is often due to loose floorboards, the bounciness and movement can cause the floorboards to rub together or against a fixing nail or floor joists. Floorboards may be loose due to being fitted with incorrect nails or the correct fixings being fitted poorly.

Squeaky, bouncy floorboards can also be due to floor joist issues, the structural timbers beneath the floor, when there is a gap between the joist and the floor boards, due to the joist deteriorating, there may be space for movement.
