Woodworm Damage

Woodworm refers to certain wood-boring beetles which can be found in timber. There are various types of woodworm, however, they all feed on wood. They dig small tunnels in the wood and this can cause significant structural and cosmetic damage.

Signs of woodworm

The first sign of woodworm is tiny holes in the wood. These holes will be a few millimetres across. You may see tunnels in the wood caused by larvae boring through the wood.

You may also notice small white eggs in the cracks.

Finally, in hardwood floors if woodworm are still active, you may even notice small amounts of dust around the holes where woodworm have been boring.

Treating Woodworm

It is essential to get woodworm treated as soon as an infestation has been identified. If large parts of your wooden floor or structural joists, door linings, stud partition walls and skirting boards show evidence of woodworm, then the integrity of those elements could be severely compromised and the problem will need to be treated. We routinely remove flooring, joists, skirting, architraves, loft timbers that are affected with woodwork from homes, supply and install new and then supply and spray a chemical treatment. The spray is an all round chemical treatment for elimination and prevention of all wood boring insects, wet rot and dry rot to cover the affected areas.
